Here is one of my favorite videos from way back. Lately, with my terrible bunker play and people harassing me about how I drive a golf cart, I thought I'd share this video. Also reminds me that its great to golf and have fun with everyone you come into contact with on the golf course. Enjoy!!! Ressmeyer Vision Cup to be Held in Villa d’Este Golf Club, Como, Italy, in June 2015Date Posted: 08/20/2014The Ressmeyer Vision Cup will be held in Villa d’Este Golf Club, Como, Italy in June 2015. This is the second year that the Ressmeyer Vision Cup will be held. The first Ressmeyer Vision Cup was held in 2013. It was hosted by the Columbus, GA Sports Council at the Beautiful Green Island Country Club.
All competitors in the Ressmeyer Vision Cup World Match Play Championship are legally blind and are placed into classification levels based on the degree of their impairment. There are three category levels in the event: B1, B2, and B3. The rules of blind golf do not differ much from traditional golf; competitors are guided by their coaches, who describe the shot and help align it and then golfers can ground in a hazard. Below is the link to the IBGA website which has information about the event. http://internationalblindgolf.com/news/isps-handa-ressmeyer-vision-cup The Italian Blind Golf Association will fund the event. However, sponsorship options are currently being explored to help the best blind golfers and their coaches from the USA and Canada travel to Italy to compete in the blind golf event against the world. To become a sponsor or for more information about how to help, contact the Columbus, GA Sports Council at http://www.columbusgasports.com/contact.htm. About Blind Golf Golf is a sport which can be played by anyone regardless of age, gender, physical ability or disability. The first record of a blind man playing golf dates back to 1924 in Duluth, Minnesota. Clint Russell lost his eyesight in an accident but continued to play golf. In 1930 it is recorded he shot a brilliant 84 for 18 holes. It is known that others played and in the early 1950s blind golf associations were established in Canada and the USA. Later, in the 1980s organizations were set up in the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia. In 1998 the International Blind Golf Association (IBGA) was formed to govern, sanction and provide funding for international open blind golf events. Prior to 1998 national associations had organized regular open championships and each time these received substantial funding from a Japanese business man Dr Haruhisa Handa. Dr Handa had been inspired when playing golf with a blind golfer in Australia. URL: http://internationalblindgolf.com/news/isps-handa- Tried these tees while golfing my last few rounds. They are designed to look similiar to a birdie used in badminton. They come in 8 different heights, so you can select a height which best suits your irons, hybrids, and woods. Once you have an idea, then its simple to get the right height every time. These tees are also very durable ,and despite being visually-impaired, I have yet to lose one following a drive. I would recommend them to anybody. Check out the web site today, and make your own decision! |
